S.H.E.: Style. Health. Empowerment.

These principles, which are what this monthly section is built on, are factors that affect every woman. Since I took over as editor of S.H.E. in July of 2012, I have learned so much about how these ideas affect women throughout our area.

During the past nine months, I have been able to use S.H.E. to highlight reasons why we love being women – from being successful to finding the perfect outfit to showcasing our womanly features.

Through S.H.E., I personally have learned about ways to live a healthier, happier lifestyle. I also have been able to tap my creative side via our Pinterest Picks feature and have actually successful made crafts and baked goods I was able to share with my friends and family.

S.H.E. has given me an avenue to reach out to local women to talk about topics related to Style, Health and Empowerment and provide readers real life, meaningful information that benefits women of all ages. We cover upcoming trends not only in style, but also health, business, arts and crafts, shopping and more.

On May 4, The Daily News is hosting the first annual Spring Fling for Women. It will be an event that will highlight everything S.H.E. is about, an entire day designed by women, for women with exhibits, demos and shopping.

Empowering women – of all ages, in all phases of life – is what S.H.E. and our Spring Fling are all about. I look forward to meeting you soon.
